New York City has one of the most vibrant and challenging business environments in the world. While many major corporations have offices or headquarters in NYC, that’s not what I’m talking about. They are playing in the global market, though they have an office in New York. On the other hand, NY is filled with entrepreneurs and small businesses that swim in a market filled with opportunity and competition. The companies that thrive in New York City for 10 years or more have one thing in common….Pride.
Take locksmiths and security companies for example. It’s only one of many business verticals in NYC, but locksmiths have to deliver on their word, offer fair pricing, and be available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Locksmiths have to roll out of bed at any hour to respond to customers through out New York. NY Locksmiths have to offer fair pricing or they won’t get return business.
NYC locksmiths must also be good for their word. People that find themselves in an emergency will talk often about the locksmith that showed up in 30 minutes, and more often about the locksmith that never showed. NYC has a Darwinian community of small businesses. The locksmiths that have been in business for more than ten years are good companies because they are the result of natural selection.
